Our all-time favorite Bryan Cranston from ‘Your Honor’ is finally back for season 2! Adapted from the Israeli TV show, ‘Kvodo’ by Ron Ninio, this famous legal drama series has officially announced its renewal for the second season. When his son is involved in a hit-and-run that implicates an organized crime family, a judge confronts his convictions. The show thus explores how the father and son juggle their lives through lies and treachery and the measures taken by the judge in order to save his son.
Developed by the production companies King Size Productions and Moonshot Entertainment, the show is created by Peter Moffat and executive produced by Robert King, Michelle King, and Liz Glotzer. The showrunner for season 2 is Joey Hartstone (writer for season 1), who is also the producer, along with Debra Lovatelli, Todd Lewis, and Dewayne Darian Jones.
Your Honor Season 2 Release Date
The first season of ‘Your Honor’ was released on December 6, 2020, with 10 episodes, and ended on February 14, 2021. It was then announced in August 2021 that the show would return for a second season, which would also be its last and final season. The decision of ending the show after the second season was always planned as the creators wanted it to be a limited series. In fact, the show was initially supposed to end after the first season, but the power-packed response that it received convinced the creators for another 10-episode season.
The official date for the release of the second season is December 9, 2022, before making its on-air debut on Sunday, December 11, 2022. The trailer of the show hasn’t been released yet, but a short video on the first look of the second season has dropped on youtube.
Your Honor Season 2 Cast
Although we don’t have any updates concerning the cast, we are hopeful that the core actors of the previous season will be back on board. The cast members for the second season of ‘Your Honor’ should therefore include the following. Bryan Cranston reprising the role of Michael Desiato, alongside Hunter Doohan, who will perhaps reprise the character of Adam Desiato (that is if the character is still alive after the first season’s finale).
For other important roles, we expect to see Michael Stuhlbarg (Jimmy Baxter), Hope Davis (Gina Baxter), Sofia Black-D’Elia (Frannie Latimer), Isiah Whitlock Jr. (Charlie Figaro), and Carmen Ejogo (Lee Delamere).
Moreover, we can also hope to see some recurring roles taken by Andrene Ward-Hammond (Big Mo), Margo Martindale (Elizabeth Guthrie), Benjamin Flores Jr. (Eugene Jones), Maura Tierney (Fiona McKee), Amy Landecker (Nancy Costello), Jimi Stanton (Carlo Baxter), and Chet Hanks (Joey Maldini). Unfortunately, owing to his character’s tragic fate in the first season, we will not be seeing Lamar Johnson reprise the role of Kofi Jones.
Your Honor Season 2 Plot
In season 1 we saw the esteemed New Orleans judge Michael Desiato, whose son Adam kills another teenager in an unforeseen hit-and-run accident. Although Michael initially spurs his son to turn himself in, he quickly changes his mind and resolves to safeguard his son after finding out that the victim was the son of a mafia kingpin, leading to a hazardous game full of concealing, lies, secret-keeping, and hard conclusions. It shows the father’s attempts to manipulate the evidence, which makes him contradict his convictions, and ends up having destructive implications instead for him and his son.
The season 1 ending was quite amusing to the fans. Even though Carlo was not found not guilty of Kofi’s murder, Eugene went out to get his own revenge for Kofi’s death. Armed with a gun, he fired a shot at Carlo but missed, shooting Adam in the neck. The show ends with Adam being accidentally shot by Kofi’s brother Eugene, leaving the question of whether Adam is alive or not on a cliffhanger.
We may assume that season 2 will take off from that abrupt ending of season 1 and continue forward. We can expect this act of punishment on Adam due to Karma to be a prominent part of season 2. Even if Adam turns out to be alive, it won’t necessarily be the end of it all, because sooner or later he will have to face the consequences of his horrifying acts and pay for them.
While Nancy, Charlie, and Lee all notice parts of the truth, Michael will have to take the brunt of saving his prodigal son. Michael and Adam will have to face a few more issues on their own, and the father-son relationship may be impaired as season 2 moves forward. The season will skid towards ominous territory as the tensions continue to escalate.
