61st Street Season 2 Plot
This program was an emotional rollercoaster for the whole season. I sobbed, yelled at the TV, looked up laws and police processes, laughed, rejoiced, and held my breath as the decision was read (not guilty).
Moses Johnson is a recent high school graduate on his way to college on a track scholarship. Moses lives on Chicago’s South Side, managed and controlled by competing gangs, the Nation and the Faction, and corrupt cops. Moses and his brother Josh had arrived at the wrong intersection at a bad moment. Brannigan murders Rufus (Tutu) on a street corner for being a traitor, and Moses flees. Officer Micheal Rossi is inadvertently slain during Moses’ escape.

Franklin becomes Moses’ defence counsel for the murder accusation. Brannigan and his filthy crew employ whatever means to instil terror in the neighbourhood to ensure Moses is convicted of Micheal’s murder. They manufacture narcotics, tamper with evidence, toss witnesses into the river, lie on the stand, and infiltrate Moses’ familial circle with an undercover officer.
The jury’s decision frees Moses, and now Brannigan and his filthy squad must figure out how to keep Moses and the South Side quiet about all the corruption they observed throughout the trial. 61st Street is a two-season series with a total of 16 episodes. Season 2 will also include eight episodes. As of yet, no new cast members have been confirmed, and with only eight episodes remaining, the writers will focus on tying up the Johnson and Franklin family tales and what happens inside the Chicago police department following the trial.
Given that AMC knew in 2019 that 61st Street would only run 16 episodes, I imagine them filming all 16 simultaneously. The second season of 61st Street might be released at any point by AMC. The only formal notification regarding the debut date has been that it will take place this year.
After six months, It might happen in the following few weeks or months if there is still time remaining in this year. AMC will wait until after Memorial Day weekend, if not until after the Fourth of July holiday, before attempting to bring such a prominent drama back to summer evening television.
