The series is a collection of James Herriot’s veterinary experiences that happens in Dales. Qualified veterinarian James Herriot travels from his place in Glasgow to the Yorkshire village of Darrowby for a job interview. He saves many pets and animals from danger. Siegfried is his friend who helps him get a job. Things get messed up when Siegfried’s wayward brother comes home after his studies. James decides to help Helen with the championship bull.

During the Darrowby show, James is given the honor of attending a veterinarian. But Tristan and Siegfried know it is a difficult responsibility and James won’t get any leisure time. By the end of the first season we witness three of them busy with their own work, Siegfried gets flu, James’ workload gets doubled, and Tristan immerses himself in textbooks to help his friend with something.

The second season begins with James planning to make an important decision with Helen in his mind. He invites Helen for a spring dance. Meanwhile, Siegfried tries his best for romance. But things never go as planned. Something happens which leads Helen and James into a series of arguments. On the other side, Tristan’s life goes as planned and he finally learns to make his clients happy. When things get cooled up, James and Helen have a heart-to-heart conversation. Though Tristan hates Mrs. Donovan’s dog, he saves it from an accident. This brings us to the end of Season 2 of the series.

At the end of season two, we witness James going on one knee and proposing to Helen. So it’s evident that they got engaged by the end of the second season. In season 3 we can expect their marriage or many more good and romantic scenes for James and Helen. Now that they have decided to stay together forever, they have to make a lot of adjustments in their lives.

Especially, it might get more difficult for Helen as she has to shift from Heston Grange to Skeldale, which is really a huge step. In the first season, we see a formal and shy Helen, but in the third season, we might see the funnier and messy side of hers. Not only James and Helen, but we might also witness changes in the characters of the artist in the third season.
