Do you fancy yourself a murder mystery that will blow your mind? Let’s take a look at Another Season 2 of which seems to be creating a lot of buzz. Another is a 2012 Japanese adult animated horror television series directed by Tsutomu Mizushima and produced by P.A. Works that aired twelve episodes from 10 January to 27 March 2012.
The series, based on Yukito Ayatsuji’s 2009 novel of the same name, is set in 1998 and revolves around a boy named Kichi Sakakibara, who, after transferring into Yomiyama Middle School and meeting the curious Mei Misaki, finds himself in a mystery involving students and people related to his class facing gruesome and senseless deaths. Here’s all you need to know about Another Season 2.
Another Season 2 Plot
Misaki died in 1972. Ever since, there’s been an eerie silence that revolves around the city, the kind nobody can make sense of- and nobody wants to. The theory is simple. To the people of Yomiyama, ignorance is bliss. 26 years later, enter Kouichi Sakakibara- a 15-year-old who joins the same school Misaki used to go to.
Kouichi is infatuated with American Horror books by Stephen King and John Saul. So the school’s grim history has piqued his interest.
When Kouichi arrives, he observes that all of the pupils are acting strangely. He is captivated by Mei Misaki, a peculiar girl with an eyepatch over one of her eyes. Things become stranger when he finds he is the only one in the class who appears to see her.
It gets stranger here: Nonetheless, Kouichi and the eyepatch girl (Mei Misaki) grow closer, and he begins to unravel the riddle of the evil that pervades everybody around them. The further he explores, though, the more he is drawn into the deadly reality.
An OVA episode was then released that brings light to what truly happened to Misaki in 1972.
Another Season 2 Release Date
Another Season 1 premiered on January 12, 2010, and ran for 12 episodes till March 27, 2012. Following this, a prequel OVA was released on May 26, 2012, but nothing further was heard about the program after that. There are currently no rumors or suspicions around Another Season 2. As a result, it is unlikely that P.A Works will consider developing a new one. Even if the studio agrees to continue the program, the season 2 premiere date for ‘Another’ might be in 2023. This area will be updated as soon as we learn more.
Another season 2 Cause of Cancellation
Given that the manga and anime share the same ending, it is extremely improbable that Another will receive a second season. Despite the fact that the novel has a sequel, we don’t believe it will be turned into a new story. This is possible because Animes are generally produced for the purpose of promoting a particular manga series.
Manga comes to a close at the same point as anime. So, apart from a spin-off novel that you could enjoy, there is no manga continuation for the anime.

Another Season 1 Recap
Koichi Sakakibara returns to his birth town of Yomiyama to live with his grandparents and aunt Reiko Mikami, where he is hospitalized for the first month due to a pneumothorax. Izumi Akazawa, Tomohiko Kazami, and Yukari Sakuragi, his classmates, pay him visits but act strangely. Koichi meets an unusual girl, Mei Misaki, in the hospital. When he recovers, he returns to school, where Mei informs him that their class, Class 9-3, is on the verge of extinction.
Naoya Teshigawara, Koichi’s classmate, reveals that Class 9-3 is cursed. Koichi, troubled by Mei but drawn to her, inquires of Sanae Mizuno, a hospital nurse, about a girl who may have died on the night of his discharge.
Mei reveals that one of her eyes is a doll’s eye capable of seeing unusual things. She tells Koichi about the town’s haunted legend: a student from Class 9-3 in 1972, also named Misaki, died, but the class continued to act as if Misaki was alive, thus inviting death.
Koichi knows everything, and he’s fine with being ignored alongside Mei, because Class 9-3 believes this “charm” will prevent the disaster, but that’s not the end of it.
Another Season 1 Ending
Tomohiko kills students at random to find the “extra,” but is killed by Izumi, who is soon killed by glass shards impaling her, after which she recalls briefly meeting Koichi in Yomiyama in 1996. Koichi discovers that the “extra” is Reiko, who was murdered in 1996. His memories, altered by the curse, return to him, and he recalls visiting Yomiyama in 1996 for Reiko’s funeral. He kills her reluctantly, putting an end to the disaster, but passes out from the shock. Koichi and Mei later reflect on memories they will soon forget. Following the credits, Naoya records a new message for those who may be affected by the disaster in the future.
Mei, 14, discreetly meets with her twin sister Fujioka. Fujioka spends the night at Mei’s residence when her mother is abroad. Mei notices the hue of death on her and feels extremely protective. A bird causes Fujioka to tumble out of her carriage while riding a Ferris wheel, but the carriage was low enough that she was not in danger. Fujioka, on the other hand, falls unexpectedly, is brought to the hospital, and dies of leukaemia. Mei meets Koichi for the first time as she prepares to bid Fujioka farewell.
