The series is based on a true story that happened in the 1980s, and it was largely inspired by the book that was written about it. The plot follows the lives of Betty and Candy, two neighbors who become friends. Betty has a beautiful family who is happy and living life to the fullest until she is murdered by her friend Candy.

Candy claimed after being arrested that she killed Betty in self-defense and had no intention of killing her; the series will go through several courtroom scenes in which they show how the families of both sides respond to this and the victim’s grief. During the trial, the truth about whether Candy will be held liable is revealed because she will have to prove that she was first attacked by Betty and that Betty had bad intentions toward her. The series is a thriller with a documentary feel but told in a cinematic style.
