Next year, in Scream 6, Ghostface will return with a vengeance, and we already have a trailer to get us pumped up. Paramount published the teaser trailer for the next film, officially named Scream VI, on December 14 as a twisted early holiday present. It previewed the upcoming installment’s New York City scenario, complete with many Ghostfaces following our protagonists on the subway. While returning favorites like Jenna Ortega’s Tara and Courteney Cox’s Gale is great news, the series will be lacking two original cast members in David Arquette’s Dewey and Neve Campbell’s Sidney. Here’s all you need to know about Scream 6 and what to expect from the new film.
Scream 6 Release Date
The March 31, 2023 debut date for Scream 6 has been pushed up to the new release date of March 10, 2023. The movie was shot between June and August of 2022, and with the trailer in hand, we feel very optimistic that it will be released in March of 2023 as scheduled.
Scream 6 Plot
Although we have a teaser, we don’t know much about the plot of Scream 6 beyond the fact that Sam, Tara, Mindy, and Chad travel to New York to escape Woodsboro. Ortega has been assuring fans that there will be “references” to Sidney in the sixth film, even though he will not be appearing in it. The last film made it seem that Sam and Tara (played by Barrera and Ortega, respectively) would take over as the series’ new leads, what with Sam being the daughter of Billy Loomis in the first film. In the same manner that Sidney was a target in the first three films, she would become one if this were to become public knowledge.
Thankfully, Scream did not take the predictable route of turning Sam into a murderer like her dad, and we can only hope that future films will continue in this vein. Right now, the most likely story point for a future film is that it will parody standard conventions in horror cinema. We already know that Scream took on the problem of toxic fandom and “requels,” but the next target is anyone’s guess.
Scream 6 Cast
Fans of the franchise are hoping that Hayden Panettiere’s character Kirby, who debuted in Scream 4 and was teased to be alive in the sequel, will return for Scream 6. Role of Gale Weathers, played by Courteney Cox Sam Carpenter, portrayed by Melissa Barrera Actress Jenna Ortega plays Tara Carpenter. Playing Kirby Reed is Hayden Panettiere.
Playing Mindy Meeks, Jasmin Savoy Brown-Chad Meeks, played by Martin Mason Gooding Officer Martin Dermot Mulroney, played by Martin Dermot Mulberry A. Henry Czerny Weaving by Samara Revolori, Tony Champion, Jacket Devyn Ms. Liana Liberato Segarra, Josh Ghostface is voiced by Roger L. Jackson. David Arquette’s Dewey, who was killed off in the last film, and Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott, who has caused the most uproar, will not be making comebacks.
