After an awkward public meltdown, alcoholic Samantha Fink has only one chance to avoid jail time. She must stay clearheaded and move back in with her bossy mother, Carol. Backbone in Boston, Samantha tries to make the best of the situation. Though, that’s easier said than done.
Samantha is confronted by the ghosts of her past, which drove her to alcohol addiction. And then there’s her mother, visible by her absence when Samantha was young, and now interferes in everything and showers her with sage instruction. At first, Samantha is reluctant to take a new-fangled path, but when her childhood best friend Brit reveals surprising news, she has to admit that her revelry life can’t go on like this.

Next season, hit on lumber; you now have this new exciting outline: Brit, Sam, then Felicia. There’s a new-fangled trio that we don’t have to figure out how to get together since they want to be together,” stated Gardner.
