The Eminence in Shadow Season 2 is the upcoming season of the Dark Fantasy Anime. Based on the Manga of the same name, The Eminence in Shadow follows the life of Cid Kagenou. Kagenou is an average kid who dislikes being in the spotlight. All his life he has been very careful in being in the background not causing any trouble for anyone. His true intention is to remain in the shadows and control people. And therefore, he keeps his talents a secret. Everything was about to change. Kagenou just didn’t know it yet. One day as he was making his way back from school, he witnesses one of his classmates getting kidnapped.
He just stands there watching. It turns out the kidnapped girl is a celebrity and is being held for ransom. It is then revealed that Kagenou spends his nights as a vigilante and breaks in from the ceiling. He quickly dispatches one of the kidnappers. The other kidnapper seeing his skills in fighting challenges him in hand-to-hand combat. Kagenou goes into detail about how he dedicated his life to martial arts and has worked very hard to perfect his technique. He easily dispatches the other kidnapper also and frees his classmate from her bounds. After which he disappears into the shadows.
The next day the kidnapped classmate comes to class as if nothing had happened. Her father made sure that this incident was kept under wraps as it would be damaging to her image. She sees Kagenou at school and realizes that just like her he is also hiding his true feelings. But in a cruel twist of fate, the next thing we see is that Kagaenou was in a fatal accident and has passed away. While in the afterlife Kagaenou recounts his past life.
Soon after he gets reborn. But he is no longer in the same universe. He is reborn into a Universe where magic exists. What’s more, he has all his memories from his past life. Even in this universe, his goal is the same. He stays in the background keeping a low profile. He displays poor magic skills which is a ruse. At night he unleashes his full magical abilities to support his vigilante lifestyle.
The Eminence in Shadow Season 2 Release Date
The Eminence in Shadow debuted its first episode on the 5th of October 2022. It is not yet known how many episodes are going to be there for the first season as it’s ongoing. To date, 6 episodes have come out and 7th is scheduled to premiere on the 16th of November 2022. The episodes have a duration of 24 minutes each. The Eminence in Shadow Season 2 will likely follow the same pattern having 24-minute episodes. The story continues as Kagenou hides his power from his family and friends while honing his skills in the dead of the night.
On one such night, he fights off some thieves and decided to go through their bounty to see if there is something worthwhile. There he finds a blob that seems to be alive. Kagenou takes it back to his hideout experiments on it and accidentally lifts the curse it was on. The blob turns out to be an Eleven girl. Kagenou makes up a story about how she was part of an elite group of warriors who defeated the demon Diabolos. Now the Cult of Diabolos is trying to resurrect the demon. The girl believes his story and swears fealty to Kagenou. Thus, becoming the first member of the Shadow Garden.
The Eminence in Shadow Season 2 Storyline
As the years go by Kagenou recruits more and more girls into the Shadow Garden. They become a truly formidable force. All this time Kagenou thinks the Cult of Diabolos is a figment of his imagination. However, the cult is very real and truly exists in his universe. One day his older sister Claire gets kidnaped by the cult but Kagenou thinks they are just random bandits. Kagenou assembles the Shadow Garden which has 7 members now. They take down the cult with ease and during the commotion, Claire escapes. Completely oblivious to the fact that Kagenou was the one who saved him.
The Shadow Garden is disbanded as they go their separate ways to hunt the Cult of Diabolos on their own. More years pass and Kagenou is now a student at Midgar Academy just like his older sister. In school, he keeps his low profile. Everything changes when he loses a bet and was forced to ask out a Princess. To his surprise the princess accepts. This throws a wrench in his plan as dating a princess forces him into the spotlight. It is revealed after that she is betrothed to one of her teachers and this is her way of saying no.
Kagenou does not want to go through with this plan but later relents when the Princess says she will pay him. He continues to Fake-Date her until the day she abruptly goes missing. Since Kagenou was the last person to see her, he is taken in and tortured for information. He acts as if he was in immense pain all to cement his image as a weakling. After several days he is let go and is approached by Alpha, his second in command of Shadow Garden. Princess Alexia was captured by the Cult of Diabolos as she is a royal and her blood has special properties. Kagenou saves the princess revealing to the world the existence of Shadow Garden.
