Created for Amazon Prime Video by game writer and English novelist Naomi Alderman, The Power is an upcoming contemporary global thriller drama television series. The series is based on Naomi Alderman’s 2016 science fiction novel of the same name. The novel’s plot focuses on women with the Power to release electrical jolts from their fingers and make them superior to the opposite sex. The story received the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction in 2017 and was named one of the 10 Best Books of 2017 by The New York Times. Naomi Alderman is also the executive producer of the series alongside Naomi de Pear, Jane Featherstone, Raelle Tucker, Reed Morano, and Claire Wilson.

The Power Release Date
The show’s production was scheduled to start in 2019 in Georgia but had to be stopped following the newly introduced abortion law. However, filming resumed at the beginning of 2020 but had to be halted again following the Covid-19 pandemic. The scenes were shot in Fairford, Lechlade, Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, and Bawdsey.
The show was shot near Namibia’s Walvis Bay in October last year. But the official release date for this science-fiction series has yet to be confirmed. The makers have yet to ascertain how many episodes the series will have. But they have mentioned that Shannon Murphy and Ugla Hauksdóttir will direct two episodes of the series, and Neasa Hardiman and Reed Morano will handle the rest.

The world of The Power is similar to ours; the only difference is that it has the twist of nature. Teenage girls can electrocute people, and no one can take it away from them. They can also release electrical jolts from their fingertips and understand that the same Power can be implemented inside older women. Every woman can have that Power, and things will change then.
