Hundreds of Americans from various walks of life are put to the test in the sports entertainment program “American Ninja Warriors” in terms of their stamina, speed, and agility. The competitors, dubbed “ninjas,” try their hardest to complete a series of enormous obstacle courses in order to press the buzzer and move on to the next round. Since the fourth season, the final contestants have been required to compete on a four-stage obstacle course known as Mount Midoriyama, which is located on a vacant lot across Las Vegas Boulevard from the Luxor. The production team increased the rope climb from 50 feet to 75 feet to increase the difficulty of the final obstacle. The course’s stretch is the size of four football fields.
The COVID-19 pandemic presented the production with its most difficult challenge yet for the first time in the show’s history. To get around this, the producers decided to film the entire 12th season of American Ninja Warrior at America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri. From June 29 to July 25, 2020, the movie was filmed.
