The Serpent Queen Plot

In ” The Serpent Queen, ” Catherine de Medici (Samantha Morton) rises from obscurity to become one of France’s most powerful and long-reigning monarchs in “The Serpent Queen.” Catherine’s story is shown in flashbacks as she justifies her acts and teaches her new maid, Rahima (Sennia Nanua). Having lost both her parents at a young age, 14-year-old Catherine (Liv Hill) marries into the French nobility of the 16th century. Her uncle Pope Clement (Charles Dance) has arranged a big dowry and a geopolitical alliance in return for the union, and he expects the marriage to produce numerous heirs despite the bride’s commoner status.

Catherine finds out on her wedding night that her new spouse is in love with Diane de Poitiers (Ludivine Sagnier), a stunning lady’s maid 20 years older than he is. Catherine’s future is suddenly clouded, and she has little hope of becoming pregnant. She must quickly establish who she can trust among her personal courtiers and the royal court members, all the while outwitting those who underestimate her will to survive.

According to Christina Davis, Starz’s President of Original Programming, “The Serpent Queen” may be the network’s “most clever narrative of one of the most influential ladies ever to wear a crown. Catherine is a very complicated main character who develops into a skilled ruler while facing great political and personal odds throughout the course of her reign, said Haythe.
